Our story
HR4 Business was founded in April 2025 by Samantha Bonser and Heather McLean, two highly skilled HR professionals with a passion for helping small businesses succeed. With over 50 years of combined experience across various industries, Sam and Heather bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.
Meet our founders
Samantha Bonser (Sam)
Sam Bonser is a seasoned HR Leader with over two decades of experience across industries including retail, rental, construction, not-for-profit and leisure. Her expertise spans employment law, employee engagement, business or services transfers (TUPE), redundancies/restructuring, and project management. The last decade has been spent working solely in and with small businesses, where she handled everything from employee conflicts and minor conduct issues, right the way through to major restructures and the transfer of employees in and out of businesses. She's also managed teams of staff herself, so understands the complexity of managing people from a practical perspective.
Sam is known for her excellent interpersonal skills, strong commercial knowledge, and effective business partnering abilities. She's a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, demonstrating her ability to work at both an operational and strategic level, and recently completed an Executive MBA at Lancaster University
Heather McLean
Heather McLean is a HR professional with over 30 years of experience across various commercial sectors including food retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and distribution. For the last 17 years, Heather has worked with the SME sector in senior roles, including HR Director at the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). Heather is passionate about assisting smaller businesses and has developed a reputation for finding solutions to the most complex HR problems. She holds an MBA from the Open University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
